Dear agent,
The Australian Institute of Welfare and Community Workers (AIWCW) has asked that we forward the following information to you.
The AIWCW is the assessing authority for applicants (including overseas students studying in Australia) wishing to have their qualifications assessed for the purpose of migrating to Australia as a welfare worker (ASCO Code 2512-11) under the skilled migration scheme.
As from 1 January 2010, people requiring assessment as a welfare worker will need to have evidence of a proficiency in the English language of not less than an Overall Score of 7.0 in the Academic version of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).
This information is relevant to you if you have clients studying in Australia, or are recruiting students from overseas, with the view to them undertaking the Diploma of Community Welfare Work. To obtain a skills assessment as a welfare worker the qualification provider (University, TAFE College or Private RTO) must have their campus and course approved by the AIWCW. An application for campus/course approval and the guidelines/information can be obtained from the AIWCW National Office
